Playa del Carmen — Two individuals of U.S. origin, identified as Casey "N" and Raven "N," were detained for alleged crimes against public health following a surveillance operation conducted by the K9 Unit of the Secretary of Citizen Security, in coordination with the Mexican Navy.

The incident occurred in the Federal Maritime Zone, near the Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal, while officers were conducting crime prevention duties. The uniformed officers noticed that both individuals displayed nervous behavior upon noticing their presence.

The canine Yoker, trained for narcotics detection, immediately displayed alert signals—head movements, pulling, and barking—which led the officers to conduct an inspection on the spot.

During the inspection, authorities secured a suitcase, a multicolored bag, and seven blue packs bearing the label "Shaman Smokes." Six of these packs contained 20 cigarettes each, and one contained 19. Each cigarette was filled with a green, dry herb with characteristics consistent with marijuana.

The detainees were placed at the disposal of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Combating Drug Trafficking, where their legal status will be determined.
