Tulum, Mexico — A judge ordered pretrial detention for two men in separate criminal cases in Quintana Roo, including a suspect accused of killing his partner in Tulum and abandoning her body wrapped in a blanket.
The State Prosecutor’s Office of Quintana Roo announced that a control judge linked Carlos Alfredo N, alias “Diablo,” to trial for the probable crime of femicide. The judge considered the evidence presented by prosecutors sufficient and imposed a pretrial detention measure for two years or the duration of the criminal process.
The investigation began after events on January 1, when the suspect was with his partner inside a home on Privada Cangrejo in the town of Puerto Aventuras. According to the initial version from the accused, the woman allegedly took her own life by hanging after an argument. However, autopsy results ruled out that hypothesis, establishing that injuries on the body did not correspond with that cause of death.
Early inquiries determined that the victim was likely killed by Carlos Alfredo N, who then transported the body, wrapped in a blanket, and abandoned it on a dirt road in the town of Chemuyil in Tulum municipality.
In a separate proceeding, the prosecutor’s office also announced that Anthony Isrrael N, alias “El Sobrino,” was linked to trial for his alleged participation in the crimes of aggravated homicide and injuries. This second case stems from events on August 25, 2024, in Benito Juárez municipality, against two women whose identities remain protected.
After respective hearings, the control judge resolved to impose pretrial detention on both defendants to ensure their appearance during the judicial process.
