Isla Mujeres — Three female workers from the municipal government today received certificates that will allow them to release their housing mortgages, after years of carrying unpayable debts generated by the irresponsibility of past governments.
Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde thanked the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who this morning delivered the first houses under the Welfare Housing Program, because thanks to the law reforms promoted by the Federal Government, it is now possible for Quintana Roo workers to have the certainty that no one can take away the patrimony they have built with so much effort and work.
The island mayor added that for municipal government workers to access these benefits, it was extremely important that the municipality had healthy finances and that the debt with FOVISSSTE, inherited from previous administrations, was cleared.
“Teamwork and establishing an agreement with the Federal Government to pay off this million-dollar debt allowed the recovery of legal benefits for all workers,” stated Atenea Gómez.
The island mayor noted that these certificates are only the first of several to come and that for municipal staff to access these benefits, it was essential to clean up the municipality’s finances.
“Today we fulfill it, and thanks to that, our colleagues are recovering the peace of mind they deserve,” she expressed.
The mayor reiterated her commitment that these benefits reach more families in Isla Mujeres, for which she assured that her administration works in coordination with the Federal Government and the State Government so that the Welfare Housing Program advances and consolidates in the municipality, guaranteeing access to dignified housing and patrimonial security for more island workers.
