Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The municipal government is putting the finishing touches on the historic Hacienda Mundaca ahead of its planned reopening in March, officials announced Friday.

The restoration project, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, aims to strengthen the island’s historical heritage and create more gathering spaces for local families and tourists.

Hacienda Mundaca holds significant historical value for Isla Mujeres, serving as a symbol of identity and collective memory. The site had been abandoned for years before the current restoration effort.

Officials said the rehabilitation preserved the property’s essence while maintaining its cultural and natural richness, ensuring future generations can experience this emblematic space.

The reopening will integrate Hacienda Mundaca into a broader cultural and tourism circuit that includes the Mirador Mar Turquesa, Punta Sur, and the Malecón Caribe. This network aims to offer residents and visitors a comprehensive experience combining nature, history, and unique landscapes.
