Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde has called on cooking and mixology enthusiasts to take part in the fifth edition of the Ceviche Contest “El Cangrejito Playero 2026” and the inaugural Isleño Cocktail Contest 2026, part of the municipality’s 176th anniversary festivities.
The contests aim to preserve, promote, and celebrate the island’s culinary heritage, according to the mayor. Gómez Ricalde said the events strengthen cultural identity by recognizing recipes, ingredients, and traditions that have given Isla Mujeres’ cuisine its reputation, while also boosting local talent and creating spaces for families and visitors to enjoy during the anniversary celebrations.
