Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets hotel has become the first property in the island zone to receive the prestigious Five Diamond award, marking a milestone in the destination’s push to establish itself as a luxury tourism hub.

Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde presented the award plaque, highlighting the hotel’s achievement as evidence of Isla Mujeres’ growing competitiveness in high-end tourism. She credited hotel developers Jorge Macari, Alejandro Zozaya, and brothers Manuel, Juan Pablo, and Bernardo Linss for their vision and investment in the island.

“This recognition goes beyond hotel excellence,” Gómez Ricalde said. “It means greater international exposure for Isla Mujeres, increased confidence from visitors seeking exclusive experiences, and ultimately more tourism, economic spillover, and job opportunities for island families.”

The mayor emphasized that such achievements reflect the tourism sector’s confidence in Isla Mujeres and the municipal government’s ongoing work to strengthen infrastructure, urban image, security, services, and destination promotion. She noted that when a hotel receives an international distinction of this magnitude, the entire community benefits through elevated destination competitiveness and strengthened presence in demanding tourism markets.

With recognitions at this level, Isla Mujeres reinforces its position as a world-class destination capable of offering excellent tourism experiences, attracting higher-spending visitors, and building a development model that generates well-being and prosperity for local families.
