New Sculptures Enhance Isla Mujeres’ Punta Sur Park

Sculpture park at Punta Sur in Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Isla Mujeres Government, led by Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, will soon install four new sculptures at the emblematic Punta Sur Sculpture Park to enrich the cultural and tourist experience at one of the destination’s most visited sites.

These new pieces—the Dancing Woman, the Xamán (Maya Priest), the Flower Offering Woman, and a new representation of the Goddess Ixchel, conceived from nature and the birth of life—will join the 17 sculptures that currently make up this open-air artistic corridor.

The Director of Government, Dube Delgado Moguel, highlighted that this sculpture park was rehabilitated from the beginning of the current administration, after remaining abandoned for many years under previous governments.

Since that recovery, continuous improvements have been made so that the site remains dignified, accessible, and attractive to both residents and visitors.

The installation of the new works will be part of this ongoing effort to strengthen the cultural, tourist, and scenic value of the place.

Likewise, the municipal official emphasized that the park continues to position itself as a key point for the tourist promotion of the municipality.

Delgado Moguel reiterated that Punta Sur will continue to receive constant maintenance so that it remains a space that celebrates the island identity, its ancestral history, and the natural wealth that surrounds it.

In that same vein, it was recalled that a few months ago, a photographic viewpoint was placed that is now one of the most frequented spots for capturing images of the sunrise and the cliff, attracting national and international visitors daily.

The sculptures, inspired by feminine figures, rituals, and symbols of the Maya worldview, project the spirit of the Island and the vision of a government that bets on the preservation of its roots.

With these actions, Punta Sur continues to be a living stage that honors the beauty of Isla Mujeres before island families and thousands of visitors.
