Isla Mujeres, Q. Roo — With the goal of fostering participation, analysis, and critical thinking among the island's youth, the Isla Mujeres Government, led by Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde, through the Youth Directorate, will hold the Municipal "Youth Political Debate 2025" contest.

This contest will take place next Wednesday, November 26 at the Auditorium of the Universidad Sacro Cuore, where participants will be able to demonstrate their capacity for expression, argumentation, and knowledge of public matters and issues of social interest.

The competition will be divided into two categories: Category A, aimed at youth aged 15 to 19, and Category B, for those between 20 and 29 years old. The winners of the top three places will be recognized with prizes that will be awarded during the closing ceremony.

Registrations will be processed at the offices of the Youth Directorate, located at the IEEJA facilities in the La Gloria neighborhood, on Canané street, from 9:00 to 16:00 hours.

Atenea Gómez emphasized that this type of activity provides spaces where young people can express their ideas freely, informedly, and responsibly.

During the event, contestants will address various topics concerning the educational system, gender equality, democratic participation, the use of artificial intelligence, environmental protection, human rights, and the country's public policies.

Block A, corresponding to the 15 to 19 age category, will focus on topics related to education and technology; meanwhile, Block B, for ages 20 to 29, will analyze issues of greater social, political, and environmental complexity.

In both cases, participants will be evaluated based on criteria such as knowledge, depth, argumentation, presentation, and formulation of rebuttals.

For more information, interested parties can go directly to the Youth Directorate or contact the official channels of the Isla Mujeres City Council.
