Isla Mujeres, Mexico — The municipal government of Isla Mujeres, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, has initiated maintenance and repainting work on the sculptures at Punta Sur Sculpture Park. The effort aims to preserve the beauty of this iconic site, which attracts thousands of tourists and local families daily.
Preserving an Enigmatic Landmark
The maintenance, coordinated by the Directorate of Government, is conducted two to three times per year to ensure the sculptures remain in optimal condition. Dubé Delgado Moguel, Director of Government, stated that the work includes touch-up painting and general upkeep as part of Mayor Gómez Ricalde’s commitment to enhancing the town’s appeal.
“This summer, we have doubled our efforts to keep streets, beaches, and tourist sites clean and beautiful so that both island families and visitors can enjoy a better experience in our Magical Town,” Delgado Moguel emphasized.
A Commitment to Tourism and Community
The initiative aligns with the administration’s goal of boosting tourism and fostering shared prosperity for local families. The Punta Sur Sculpture Park is open to the public daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Delgado Moguel encouraged residents and tourists to visit the park while respecting its facilities.
The maintenance underscores the government’s broader efforts to maintain Isla Mujeres as a premier destination, reinforcing its reputation for cleanliness and cultural preservation.
