Isla Mujeres — In an initiative aimed at strengthening community unity and promoting Christmas traditions, Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde organized the first Christmas carol competition in the Continental Zone. The event took place at the Domo Monte de los Olivos, bringing together various local choirs and talents who performed Christmas songs for an enthusiastic audience.
Participation ranged from school choirs to senior citizen groups, in a day filled with joy and festive spirit. This event is part of a comprehensive strategy by the municipal government to stimulate culture and creativity in the community, especially in a year when celebration and family unity take on greater relevance.
The importance of these actions lies in consolidating a sense of identity and belonging among residents, promoting values of solidarity and participation. The jury selected the best performances, awarding cash prizes to the top three places: the Geovani Paolo School Choir took first place, followed by the Casa del Adulto Mayor and the group Las Tuquitukis.
The awards ceremony aims to encourage artistic training and strengthen cultural expressions in the locality. With these activities, the Isla Mujeres government reaffirms its commitment to promoting inclusive cultural programming that strengthens social well-being and cultural roots in the community.
This type of event not only rescues traditions but also contributes to social cohesion during a season when unity and celebration become fundamental to the tranquility and dynamism of the locality.
