Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The municipal government has completed a major renovation of Jesús Martínez Ross Avenue, including new asphalt paving, sidewalks, traffic signage and streetscape improvements.
Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde formally delivered the project and said it will provide a safer, more accessible route for families, particularly pedestrians and older adults. She added that the work responds to a need raised by residents and is part of a street-improvement program covering both the island and the mainland zone.
Crews paved 6,970 square meters of road with asphalt, built 2,550 square meters of sidewalks and curbs, and rehabilitated 2,076 linear meters of existing curbs. The project also included five asphalt speed bumps, the rehabilitation of a concrete pedestrian crossing and the installation of 26 new traffic signs.
As part of the urban renewal effort, workers painted the facades of 85 homes in the area.
“These are projects that transform our surroundings, but above all they improve our daily lives. These are results that are felt and lived every day,” Gómez said.
