Playa del Carmen — The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Quintana Roo announced the successful conclusion of a Cataract Surgery Initiative at General Hospital Zone (HGZ) No. 18 in Playa del Carmen. Through this initiative, 43 patients have regained their sight and significantly improved their quality of life.
The head of IMSS in the state, Javier Michael Naranjo García, emphasized that these actions reflect the institution's commitment to the health of the region's inhabitants.
"They will no longer have to travel outside the state; here, in their homeland, we are giving them back their sight and the opportunity to live life to the fullest," he stated.
Stories of Gratitude and a Collective Effort
The initiative was a medical success and also had a profound human impact, reflected in the gratitude of the patients.
Candelaria "N" expressed her thanks to the entire medical staff for "making the efforts to bring this entire activity and campaign to life and for making many families happy."
Similarly, Ricardo "N" acknowledged the patience and dedication of the team, sending a message of encouragement: "Thank you for your care, for having calm and patience with us. Many thanks to the doctors and support staff, may God give you skilled hands to operate on us."
The success of the initiative was made possible through the coordinated work of a multidisciplinary team, which included specialists in Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, and Nursing, as well as social work staff, stretcher-bearers, and cleaning and administrative personnel.
