Tulum, Quintana Roo — A man was left shaken after discovering human skeletal remains while clearing his property in the Macario Gómez community of Tulum. The landowner stumbled upon a skull and scattered bone fragments, along with personal belongings including an identification card belonging to a man reported missing in 2024.
Discovery and Investigation
The landowner immediately alerted authorities via emergency services (911), prompting a response to the site located at kilometer 14.5 of the Tulum-Cobá highway. Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Police and Forensic Services confirmed the presence of the remains.
Among the recovered items were:
- A black cap bearing the insignia of Club América
- A white shirt with holes
- A blue wallet
- An official identification card issued to Miguel Arcángel Pech Yah
Missing Person Case
Records indicate Miguel Arcángel Pech Yah was reported missing on May 14, 2024, under alert number 112/ZN/2024. His disappearance occurred in the same Macario Gómez community where the remains were found. Authorities are conducting forensic examinations to determine if the skeletal remains belong to the missing individual.
The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death.
