Mexico City — The 2025 edition of Hot Sale, the country’s largest e-commerce event, is officially underway, running from May 26 to June 3. Organized by the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO), the campaign features more than 700 participating businesses offering significant discounts on products ranging from electronics and fashion to appliances, travel, and home goods.
Launched in 2014 to promote digital commerce in Mexico, Hot Sale has become a major fixture in the country’s retail calendar. This year’s event includes well-known retailers such as Amazon México, Mercado Libre, Liverpool, Walmart, Elektra, and Coppel, as well as brands like Samsung, IKEA, Nike, Adidas, and Shein. Travel platforms such as Booking.com are also offering exclusive deals.
Steep Discounts Across Categories
According to AMVO and participating retailers, some of the most aggressive markdowns this year include:
- Up to 70% off clothing and footwear
- Up to 64% off electronics
- Up to 63% off appliances
- Up to 58% off personal care and beauty items
Promotions vary by store, and consumers are encouraged to review terms and conditions carefully before making a purchase.
How to Maximize Savings
Industry experts recommend consumers plan their purchases ahead of time and compare prices using online tools. AMVO reports that nearly half of shoppers research products weeks in advance, particularly when shopping for high-ticket items like tech products or vacations.
Consumers should also review each retailer’s return policies, use secure payment methods, and keep digital or printed copies of purchase confirmations and receipts.
Online Safety Concerns
As with any major online sales event, Hot Sale also draws opportunistic cybercriminals. Authorities are warning shoppers to stay vigilant and take precautions to avoid falling victim to scams.
Among the recommendations issued by the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (PROFECO) and CONDUSEF, Mexico’s financial consumer protection agency:
- Shop only from websites with a secure connection (https:// and a lock icon in the address bar)
- Avoid clicking on unsolicited links received via email, text, or social media
- Be skeptical of prices that seem too low to be legitimate
- Keep antivirus software up to date on all devices
Consumers who experience fraud or suspect an online scam can contact PROFECO at 800-468-8722 or @Profeco on social media. For financial disputes, CONDUSEF can be reached at 55-5448-7000 or @CondusefMX.
A Growing Digital Economy
Hot Sale continues to reflect the growth and transformation of Mexico’s digital economy. According to AMVO, more consumers than ever are turning to online platforms not just for convenience, but for better pricing and access to global brands.
As the event unfolds, buyers are advised to take advantage of legitimate deals—while remaining cautious of offers that may come with hidden risks.
