Tulum, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist was left in serious condition on Friday following a hit-and-run incident at an intersection. Medical personnel and Municipal Transit officers were called to the intersection of Golondrinas Street and La Selva Avenue on Friday afternoon.
Witnesses told police that the driver of a car ran a stop sign and struck the motorcyclist, who was thrown from his bike and left lying on the pavement. A fellow motorcyclist who witnessed the accident attempted to follow the driver along the Tulum-Cobá highway, but the driver managed to escape.
Transit agents and Civil Protection personnel cordoned off the area and are reviewing surveillance camera footage to identify the vehicle involved. The motorcyclist was urgently transported to the hospital in serious condition.
