Cancún, Mexico — Residents of Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and the general public will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of the region through the 18th conversation in a series organized by the associations Pioneros de Cancún A.C. and Fundadores de Cancún A.C., in conjunction with the Sociedad Andrés Quintana Roo.
The meeting will feature the participation of chronicler Fernando Martí, who will serve as moderator, and will be held next Wednesday, August 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the official headquarters of the Biblioteca Nacional de la Crónica de Cancún, located next to the Ka’Yoc Planetarium.
A Journey to the Past: Puerto Morelos in the Beginnings of Cancún
Under the theme “The Importance of Puerto Morelos in the Beginnings of Cancún,” attendees will be able to learn stories and testimonies about how this coastal town played a fundamental role in the development of the city that is now one of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico and the world.
The conversation is part of a series of 20 meetings held every Wednesday, where different historical moments, anecdotes, and experiences of those who were protagonists or direct descendants of the founders are addressed.

Among the specialists and confirmed speakers for this edition are:
- Eric Jordan, researcher at UNAM.
- Francisco Remolina, expert in Protected Areas.
- Miguel Ángel Zetina, chronicler of Puerto Morelos.
- Donaldo Martínez, representative of SEPESCA.
- Alejandro Montoya, from Central Vallarta.
- The Fernández Rivero family, from the historic Hotel Posada Amor, through a video presentation.
The event will be led by chronicler Fernando Martí, recognized for his work in preserving and disseminating the historical memory of Cancún.
