Playa del Carmen, March 11 — A banner attributed to the Caborca Cartel was hung early Thursday morning at a school located at the intersection of 13th Street and 135th Avenue in Playa del Carmen. The message directly accuses high-ranking officers of the Municipal Preventive Police of alleged corruption and receiving payments from criminal payrolls.
Authorities Maintain Secrecy After Discovery
Despite the banner being secured by security personnel on the same day it was found, authorities chose to keep the matter under strict secrecy. The banner featured a white cloth with black lettering.
Information has emerged linking several commanders close to the current head of the Municipal Citizen Security Secretariat to the allegations displayed in the banner. The message highlights the alleged collusion between public officials and organized crime groups in the city.
So far, no official statement has been issued by authorities regarding the accusations contained in the message.
