Mexico City — In a strategic move to strengthen the "Hecho en Playa" brand and connect it with national markets, Antón Bojórquez Mackay, Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction for Playa del Carmen, met with Bárbara Botello Santibáñez, head of the national branding initiative "Hecho en México," under Mexico’s federal Secretariat of Economy.

The meeting, held on June 6, 2025, marks a pivotal step in positioning locally made products from Playa del Carmen within the national market through a collaborative framework designed to support micro, small, and medium-sized businesses in the municipality.

Strengthening Local and National Commerce

Bojórquez Mackay emphasized that the initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the "Hecho en México" program, which seeks to bolster domestic industry and trade amid current and future economic challenges.

"The goal is to secure federal government backing so our producers and entrepreneurs have greater opportunities for growth and commercialization. 'Hecho en Playa' is a brand that reflects the identity, talent, and quality of our people," he stated.

During the presentation, Bojórquez Mackay showcased a selection of locally produced goods bearing the "Hecho en Playa" label and expressed gratitude for the institutional support.

"Thank you to Bárbara Botello of 'Hecho en México' for receiving us here at the Secretariat of Economy. We take pride in demonstrating that in Playa del Carmen—and across Mexico—we produce goods of the highest quality. Every product from our region tells a story crafted by the hands of our artisans and producers," he added.

A Unified Vision for Mexican Products

Botello Santibáñez highlighted the "Hecho en México" program’s mission to unite the country by celebrating regional production. "Thank you for opening Playa del Carmen’s doors to us. Soon, we will bring the 'Hecho en México' seal to your community," she announced.

This collaboration underscores the commitment of Playa del Carmen’s municipal government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, to fostering local and national economic development. The initiative ensures that products "Made in Playa" are recognized for their excellence and reach consumers across Mexico.
