Cancún, Quintana Roo — Gunmen opened fire on a man at a beer stand in Cancún’s La Esperanza neighborhood on Friday afternoon, leaving him seriously injured with multiple gunshot wounds.

The attack occurred at a michelada stand on Rancho Viejo Avenue in the La Esperanza neighborhood, located in Cancún’s Region 243. Witnesses reported the victim was apparently purchasing a drink when several armed individuals arrived and fired repeatedly at him.

The shooting caused panic among people in the area, with neighbors and local business owners alerting authorities through the 911 emergency number.

Red Cross paramedics arrived minutes later and provided first aid at the scene before transporting the victim to Cancún General Hospital for specialized medical treatment. His current condition has not been confirmed by officials.

Mexican Navy personnel and municipal police officers responded as first responders, cordoning off the area to preserve potential evidence.

The incident occurred near the Arco Vial, approximately 500 meters before reaching the continental zone of Isla Mujeres.
