Cancún Hotels Near 80% Occupancy as Holiday Season Starts

Cancún. This tourist municipality and northern Quintana Roo have begun the Guadalupe-Reyes holiday period with high levels of hotel occupancy and intense air activity, reflecting the growing arrival of national and international tourists to the main destinations of the Mexican Caribbean.

78.2% Occupancy in Cancún’s Hotel Zone

According to the Occupancy Report from the Cancún, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres Hotel Association, as of December 11, the Cancún Hotel Zone recorded a daily occupancy of 78.2%.

The Association detailed that the cumulative monthly occupancy stood at 76%, although still below the 80.2% observed in the same period of 2024. This destination concentrated 60,183 visitors and an offer of 34,883 rooms, with 1,652 rooms out of operation due to remodeling.

Downtown Area Reached 63.5%

In Cancún Centro, daily occupancy was 63.5%, with a monthly cumulative of 60.9%, slightly lower than the 62.9% of last year. This segment accounted for 8,771 visitors and an offer of 6,305 rooms.

Puerto Morelos reported a daily occupancy of 77.2% and a monthly cumulative of 73.2%, compared to 80.2% in 2024, with 11,063 visitors and 6,762 rooms available.

Isla Mujeres Continental Zone Reached 79.8%

Meanwhile, the Isla Mujeres Continental Zone led occupancy levels with 79.8% daily and 77.9% cumulative, receiving 17,524 tourists and operating 9,974 rooms, despite 424 rooms closed for remodeling.

Alongside hotel performance, Cancún International Airport maintains high dynamism. For this Saturday, December 13, 569 air operations are scheduled, of which 285 are arrivals (80 domestic and 205 international) and 284 departures (80 domestic and 204 international).

Expectation of Rising Occupancy

This start of the Guadalupe-Reyes season confirms the tourist strength of Cancún and the Mexican Caribbean, with expectations that occupancy will continue to rise as the December season progresses and the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.

It was also reported that to guarantee the safety of tourists, a security operation has begun, deploying more than 7,000 elements, including the National Guard, municipal and state police, the prosecutor’s office, immigration, among others.
