Riviera Maya, Mexico — Grupo Lomas was recognized by the Municipal DIF System for its contribution to making the Mexican Caribbean a safer tourist destination for children and adolescents by joining the "For a Fearless Childhood" campaign, in which more than 3,000 of its employees from the Lomas Hospitality hotel chain participated.
The tourism corporation stated that the Playa del Carmen Municipal DIF System, through the Directorate of the Program for Attention to Minors and Adolescents at Risk (PAMAR), provided 45 training courses to employees of the El Dorado Royale, El Dorado Seaside, El Dorado Maroma Beach, Maroma Beach Marina, and the Exotic vacation club. The courses aimed to sensitize participants on the importance of eradicating child labor with a focus on the issue of human trafficking.
The President of the Grupo Lomas Council, Dolores López Lira, thanked the municipal institution and the staff of its hotels for their commitment to speaking up and collaborating with this program, which will sensitize them to implement actions that allow for the identification and reporting of these types of crimes. "With all this training and joint work, we will be able to keep our children safe," she stated in the presence of the Executive Vice President of Grupo Lomas and CEO of Lomas Hospitality, Samantha Frachey López Lira, company executives, and more than 200 employees of the tourism group.
The Honorary President of the Playa del Carmen DIF System, Eduardo Andrés Asencio Martínez, highlighted Grupo Lomas's commitment to protecting children and adolescents and building a safer municipality for them and their families. In this sense, he expressed his pleasure in having a more inclusive and participatory civil society and business sector that collaborates in actions for the protection of families. "Thank you very much to Mrs. Dolores López Lira and Lic. Samantha Frachey for opening the doors of the El Dorado Hotels. Together we can curb the statistics and achieve a safer municipality for everyone, especially for our children," he emphasized.
Finally, the general director of the DIF System, Rolando Jesús Rodríguez Herrera, recognized the business and altruistic trajectory of Mrs. Dolores López Lira and her husband José Luis Martínez Alday, founders of Grupo Lomas, who have been promoters and benefactors of two child care centers and have supported children through their education programs. "Today we need to continue adding allies. Thank you for caring for your employees and for Playa del Carmen; only in this way can we continue moving forward," he stressed.
As part of the event, recognitions were presented to Dolores López Lira, President of the Grupo Lomas Council, and to the general managers of the El Dorado Royale, Chrystian Rodríguez; El Dorado Maroma, Oscar Meléndez; El Dorado Seaside, Enrique Olvera; and the Director of Operations of Exotic, Clay Sawyer.
