QUINTANA ROO — In an unprecedented move, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has led the distribution of financial support exceeding 157 million pesos to boost the agricultural, livestock, fishing, beekeeping, and hydro-agricultural sectors in the southern part of the state. The event, held at Parque Quintana Roo, signaled the start of a new phase of rural transformation.
The governor emphasized that the resources represent a commitment to rural families.
“Every peso delivered today means food on the table, crops that are saved, stronger livestock, and well-being for everyone. This is clear social justice, where the people’s money returns to the people,” Lezama stated.
The breakdown of the investment is as follows:
- Livestock: 7.9 million pesos for drinkers, trailers, and scales; 3.1 million pesos for equipment; 2.8 million pesos for genetic improvement; 1.9 million pesos for supplies.
- Agriculture: 12 million pesos for seeds (corn, papaya, watermelon, sorghum), motor pumps, and irrigation systems.
- Fishing: 3.5 million pesos in electronic cards to support fishermen during closed seasons.
- Hydro-agricultural Infrastructure: More than 125 million pesos, co-financed 50% by CONAGUA (the National Water Commission).
Additionally, 900 rural women dedicated to beekeeping, agriculture, and fishing benefited from the support.
The distribution of aid was coordinated by the Ministry of Agricultural, Rural, and Fishing Development (SEDARPE). Its head, Jorge Aguilar Osorio, highlighted the humanist and equity-focused vision of the government, which places the people at the center of its decisions.
With this action, the government of Mara Lezama reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the rural sector through inclusive policies that promote economic development, social justice, and the well-being of farming families.
