Mexico City — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa reported that she met with the Secretary of Tourism for the government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, to analyze strategic actions for boosting the tourism development of Tulum.
In a statement, the governor explained, "In this meeting, together with federal, state, and municipal authorities, we reviewed the principal challenges and opportunities facing this unique destination: from the infrastructure and land connectivity of the Tulum International Airport, to promotion, tourism planning, and free access to our beaches through the Jaguar Park."
She considered that Tulum "is a pride of Quintana Roo and of Mexico, and deserves a model of orderly, sustainable development with social justice, which guarantees the rights of the population, tourists, and visitors."
Regarding the meeting, Mara Lezama added that the importance of activating mobility options that facilitate the flow of visitors toward local commerce zones was also addressed, so that tourism benefits the people and the economy of the communities directly.
"We continue working in coordination with the government of Mexico so that every action translates into well-being for the people, protection of our natural environment, and tourism growth with shared prosperity," she concluded.
