Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama of Quintana Roo distributed 300 sewing machines to women in Cancún as part of the FARO del Bienestar program’s Strengthening Trades (FORO) initiative. The event, held in Cancún, aimed to foster self-employment and improve household economies by providing tools for financial independence.
A Boost for Financial Autonomy
Governor Lezama emphasized the program’s goal of enabling women to develop skills, generate income, and achieve financial autonomy. “Today, we are giving you a tool that will help improve your economy and quality of life. This means each of you will have your own earnings, support for your livelihood, and financial independence,” she stated during the ceremony.
The sewing machines were distributed through the Secretary of Welfare, led by Pablo Bustamante, who announced plans to assist 6,000 individuals statewide in 2025. Recipients also received training to ensure effective use of the equipment.
Upcoming Distributions
Additional deliveries are scheduled for the following week:
- June 17: FARO Cancún facilities
- June 19: Colosio Community Development Center in Playa del Carmen
Beneficiaries must attend the location they selected during registration. Benito Juárez Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña welcomed attendees, while Secretary Bustamante outlined the program’s broader objectives.
Open Enrollment
The FORO program remains open for registration. Interested individuals can apply via the Secretary of Welfare’s official portal: sebien.qroo.gob.mx/foro.
The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to reducing inequality and creating equitable opportunities for all residents.
