Cancún, QRoo — Governor Mara Lezama surprised athletes participating in the 2026 State Transformation Leagues by announcing that the finals scheduled for February 14 and 15 will be held in Quintana Roo’s most representative professional venues.
The governor led a tour at the Kuchil Baxal gym in Cancún, where she observed athletes in action and highlighted the sustained growth of sports as a tool for well-being and development for the state’s children and youth.
The 2026 State Transformation Leagues open spaces for development and competition for Quintana Roo’s children and youth, allowing them to showcase their talent to integrate the teams that will represent the state in the 2026 National CONADE Olympics.
During the tour, accompanied by the honorary president of the Quintana Roo DIF System, Verónica Lezama, and the head of the Codeq, Jacobo Arzate, she greeted the athletes and their families, emphasizing that this is the first government to consolidate these sports leagues, which in their third edition bring together athletes from all 11 municipalities of Quintana Roo.
The Transformation Leagues promote disciplines such as baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball, with the goal of fostering competition, comprehensive development, and talent detection leading up to the 2026 National CONADE Olympics.
The numbers reflect the program’s growth: in 2024, 908 athletes participated; in 2025, the number increased to 1,639; and for 2026, there are nearly 1,800 athletes, confirming the strengthening of sports in the state.
“This speaks of growth, talent, and that in Quintana Roo we continue working as a team, always saying yes to sports,” expressed Mara Lezama.
Therefore, she announced that the finals will be played at the Andrés Quintana Roo stadium for soccer; the Poliforum Cancún for basketball; the Beto Ávila stadium for baseball; the March 13 Field of the Cancún Taxi Union for softball; and the Kuchil Baxal gym for volleyball.
