17 New Air Routes Boost Mexican Caribbean Connectivity

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced the opening of 17 new international and domestic air routes that will strengthen connectivity for Cancún and the Mexican Caribbean between December 2025 and March 2026.

During the announcement, the state executive highlighted that 11 of the new routes will connect with the United States, five more with Canada, and one direct route with Dublin, Ireland, consolidating Quintana Roo as one of the world’s preferred tourist destinations, particularly for the North American market.

Among the confirmed routes is Oklahoma City–Cancún, operated by American Airlines from December 6 to April 4; Toronto–Cancún and Hamilton–Cancún, handled by Porter Airlines starting December 12; as well as Cozumel–Calgary, with WestJet from December 20 to April 11.

The opening of the Dublin–Cancún route, operated by Aer Lingus starting January 6, 2026, also stands out.

Likewise, Breeze Airways will open the Cancún–Charleston and Cancún–Norfolk routes starting in January, in addition to Cancún–New Orleans and Cancún–Providence starting in February. Air Transat will connect Cancún with Charlottetown and Fredericton starting in February, while Southwest will inaugurate the Las Vegas–Cancún route on June 4. Sun Country Airlines will operate Tulsa–Cancún starting May 21, 2026, and Frontier Airlines will open Charlotte–Cancún, Chicago Midway–Cancún, and Raleigh-Durham–Cancún starting in March 2026.

In the domestic sphere, Mara Lezama also announced the new Saltillo–Cancún route, operated by Viva Aerobus, which will begin on March 29.

Mara Lezama emphasized that each new air connection represents more visitors, more employment, and greater well-being for Quintana Roo families, and reiterated that she will continue working so that shared prosperity reaches every corner of the state.

“We will continue promoting connectivity so that the Mexican Caribbean remains a world leader in tourism. The transformation continues,” concluded the Governor.
