Tulum, Quintana Roo — A woman suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident on Kukulcan Avenue in Tulum, with a pair of German tourists suspected of causing the crash.
The incident occurred when the German couple, driving a rental car with Quintana Roo license plates, was traveling from the beach area toward the town center. Witnesses reported the tourists appeared disoriented while searching for their accommodation and made a sudden left turn without proper caution, crossing into the oncoming lane.
A motorcycle carrying a local worker and his partner then collided with the left side of the car. Accounts from the scene suggest the motorcycle was also traveling at considerable speed, which increased the force of the impact.
Both motorcycle occupants were thrown onto the pavement. The woman sustained significant injuries, while the male driver suffered minor injuries and did not require immediate hospital transport.
Paramedics provided on-site care before transporting the injured woman to the IMSS Bienestar hospital, where she remains under medical observation.
Civil protection personnel implemented traffic control measures in the area, while municipal traffic police conducted an investigation to determine responsibility.
