Bacalar, Quintana Roo — The Bacaroots reggae festival will take place for free in Bacalar on April 4, 2026, as part of efforts to diversify tourism in Quintana Roo beyond its beaches. Organizers hope the event will promote positive values and draw visitors to the “Pueblo Mágico” known for its Seven Colors Lagoon.
Quintana Roo officials have noted the state is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists seeking more than just tranquil beaches, with growing demand for musical, culinary, and adventure events. While most such events have been concentrated in Cancún and Tulum, Bacalar will host the Bacaroots festival at the Domo Cultural in Central Park.
The festival will begin at 5:30 p.m. on April 4, with free admission for both tourists and locals. Organizers describe it as an opportunity to enjoy music evoking peace, love, and harmony against the backdrop of the famous lagoon, creating a festive atmosphere during Holy Week 2026.

Officials announced the lineup on social media, featuring several bands that will provide music and ambiance for the Holy Week celebrations. The schedule for individual performances has not been released.
