FPMC’s Serenata a Mamá Concert Honors Mothers in Cozumel

Cozumel, Mexico — The Fundación de Parques y Museos de Cozumel (FPMC) will close its Mother’s Month festivities with the concert "Serenata a Mamá," featuring the Trío Romance. The event is scheduled for Friday, May 30, at 7:00 PM in the auditorium of the Museo de la Isla.

Honoring Mothers Through Music

FPMC Director General Juanita Alonso Marrufo emphasized that paying tribute to mothers is a tradition that strengthens social bonds, aligning with the New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development of Quintana Roo, promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa. The initiative seeks to recognize family integration as a cornerstone of community development.

Dianela Cervantes Chi, Director of Pedagogy and Social Assistance (PAS), announced that the Trío Romance consists of Cozumel-born musicians Oliver Herrera Aguirre, Jesús Mena Montes, and Alejandro Itzá Tello. The trio specializes in Mexican romantic music and began their musical training at the Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico Industrial y de Servicios (CBTIS) No. 28.

A Rising Musical Talent

The group formed as part of their participation in the National Art and Culture Encounter, organized by the Dirección General de Educación Tecnológica Industrial (DGETI). To prepare for the competition, they received guidance from vocal and guitar instructor Argelia Chacón Díaz, who teaches at the BiblioAvión Gervasio.

Trío Romance earned first place in the state-level competition held in Cancún and represented Quintana Roo in the national phase in Texcoco, Estado de México.

Concert Details

The "Serenata a Mamá" performance will feature a repertoire of boleros, romantic ballads, and trova music, delivered with the emotional depth characteristic of the trio. The FPMC invites the community, especially mothers, to attend the free concert on May 30 at the Museo de la Isla.
