Four Suspects Arrested in Connection With Double Homicide in Cancún

Four suspects arrested in connection with a double homicide in Cancún's Villas Otoch neighborhood

Cancún, Mexico — Authorities have arrested four suspects allegedly involved in a double homicide that occurred in Cancún’s Villas Otoch neighborhood earlier this week. The suspects are believed to be members of a drug trafficking cell.

The arrests came after a shooting early Tuesday morning at a residence on Privada Octava del Arce street that left two people dead and one injured. The victims were identified as Nallely, 29, and Jorge Alberto, 39, both of whom died from gunshot wounds at General Hospital. A 66-year-old man named Agustín remains hospitalized.

Investigators recovered more than 15 shell casings at the scene, both at the entrance and inside the residence. While authorities have not disclosed a motive, one line of investigation suggests the attack may have been revenge against Nallely.

The State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) announced the arrests on Wednesday, identifying the suspects as Antonio “N,” known as “Toño”; Julio “N,” known as “Pelón”; Edgar “N,” known as “Grande”; and Pedro Alberto “N,” known as “Güero.”

Police officers from the FGE, National Guard, and Municipal Police participated in the operation. Authorities seized a 9mm handgun with a loaded magazine, an additional magazine, and what appeared to be narcotics from two of the suspects.

According to initial reports, officers arrested Antonio “N” and Julio “N” on Tuesday afternoon in the Tierra Maya subdivision while they were inside a white Volkswagen Gol that investigators believe was used in the shooting. Police captured the other two suspects in a separate operation later that day.

The FGE stated that the arrests have dismantled a criminal group responsible for generating violence and distributing drugs in the area. All four suspects have been turned over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, where their legal status will be determined in the coming hours.
