Cancún, Quintana Roo — Four destinations in Quintana Roo have been named among the top 10 most valued destinations in Mexico, according to Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best.

Cancún secured second place nationally, followed by Tulum in fifth, Cozumel in seventh, and Bacalar in eighth. The recognition places the Mexican Caribbean at the forefront of the country’s tourism rankings.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best honors destinations based on reviews left by travelers over the past 12 months. The awards reflect genuine feedback from tourists, recognizing excellence in experience, quality, and satisfaction.

Tripadvisor describes Cancún as the undisputed icon of Mexican tourism, highlighting its white sand beaches, turquoise waters, strong international connectivity, and a comprehensive offering that includes family resorts, vibrant nightlife, nearby archaeological sites such as El Rey, and outstanding cuisine. According to the Tourism Secretariat, Cancún receives between five and seven million visitors annually.

Tulum is valued for its unique combination of Mayan ruins overlooking the Caribbean Sea, sacred cenotes, paradisiacal beaches, and a bohemian-chic atmosphere that attracts travelers interested in culture, nature, and wellness.

Cozumel maintains its international prestige as one of the world’s best diving destinations, thanks to its vibrant coral reefs, tranquil beaches, and a perfect balance of adventure and romance in an exceptional Caribbean setting.

Bacalar captivates visitors with its iconic Lagoon of Seven Colors, dreamlike landscapes, cenotes, stunning sunsets, and a peaceful atmosphere ideal for connecting with nature, near the border with Belize.

The recognition comes at a strategic time for Quintana Roo, which is solidifying its position as one of Latin America’s leading tourism hubs. However, challenges remain, including air connectivity, which is prompting a rethink of promotional strategies to maintain its status as an industry benchmark.

Other beach destinations competing with the Mexican Caribbean include Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur, which tops the list as the favorite; Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco; and Nuevo Nayarit in Nayarit.
