Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A former prosecutor assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug Dealing in Playa del Carmen has been arrested in the state of Tabasco on charges of illegal exercise of public service and falsification of official documents.
The suspect, identified as Luis Daniel N., was a public servant with the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office responsible for handling case files related to drug dealing offenses.
According to case file 254/2026, the former official faces serious charges for allegedly withholding evidence from a drug dealing investigation and falsifying official documents to cover up the misconduct.
After the irregularities were discovered, Luis Daniel resigned from his post. The State Prosecutor’s Office then obtained an arrest warrant against him.
The former prosecutor sought an amparo injunction in the Eighth District Court in Cancun, but the court denied the protection after he failed to pay the required bond.
Once authorities located him in Tabasco, the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office requested assistance from its counterpart in that state. Investigative police officers from Quintana Roo traveled to Villahermosa, where the arrest was carried out, and later transported the suspect back to Playa del Carmen to face justice.
