Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A foreign tourist died while receiving a massage at a beach club in the Xcalacoco area of Playa del Carmen on Sunday afternoon. Authorities believe the death resulted from natural causes, possibly a heart attack, and an investigation is underway.
The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on January 18 at a beach club in Xcalacoco. A massage therapist from Playa del Carmen called 911 to report that one of her clients appeared to have no vital signs.
The woman touched the person and noticed they were very cold. She attempted to feel for a pulse but could not find one. She then requested the presence of authorities.
Paramedics arrived at Xcalacoco shortly afterward and determined that the foreign man no longer had vital signs. Municipal Police officers from Playa del Carmen also arrived at the scene.
Later, personnel from the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrived at the beach club and began investigations into the death of this foreigner while receiving a massage.
Although an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death, it is believed the foreign citizen died from a fulminant heart attack.
