Five Men Formally Charged in Deadly Tulum Cenote Parking Lot Shooting

Tulum, Mexico — Five men detained for a deadly shooting in a Tulum cenote parking lot in January will face trial after authorities formally charged them for their alleged roles in the attack that left one person dead and another injured.

Police announced over the weekend that a judge ordered the five men to stand trial for their suspected involvement in what authorities say could constitute the crimes of aggravated homicide and injury. The incident occurred in the municipality of Tulum.

The suspects, identified as Cristian Eduardo “N,” Hugo Daniel “N,” Fernando Jonathan “N,” Adán Osvaldo “N,” and Pablo Jesús “N,” face various charges related to the January 9, 2026 shooting.

Police said Pablo Jesús “N” faces charges for organizing the logistics of the shooting, including renting a hotel where the alleged hitmen stayed. Authorities arrested all five men separately in Playa del Carmen shortly after the attack at the Tulum cenote parking lot.

The shooting resulted in one fatality and left a cenote security guard injured. Police said Cristian Eduardo “N,” Hugo Daniel “N,” Fernando Jonathan “N,” and Adán Osvaldo “N” also face drug trafficking charges. A judge has ordered all five suspects to remain in custody during their trials.
