Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — Firefighters extinguished a house fire on the Cenote Route in Puerto Morelos on Monday, with emergency crews responding quickly to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighboring properties.
The Puerto Morelos Fire Department reported receiving a call about a structural fire at a residential property, prompting an immediate response from emergency units.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed active flames inside the building and began containment operations. They first implemented defensive measures to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas of the house and nearby properties.
After forcing entry into the building, firefighters conducted an offensive attack directly on the flames, eventually controlling and completely extinguishing the fire.
During the operation, crews faced typical firefighting hazards including heat and smoke accumulation in enclosed spaces, which can reduce visibility, compromise physical safety, and increase the risk of structural collapse or fire expansion.
Simultaneously, Civil Protection personnel evacuated people from the area and established a perimeter in coordination with municipal security forces to restrict access and ensure safety for those nearby.
The HADES medical unit from the Public Security Department also responded, with paramedics providing assessment and care to firefighters who entered the building as part of established emergency protocols.
The coordinated response prevented more extensive damage and confirmed there were no injuries. The incident adds to recent residential fires in the municipality that have highlighted risks associated with rapid fire spread in densely populated areas.
