Cancún. The State Attorney General’s Office confirmed early Tuesday morning that the body found Monday night in Supermanzana 260 corresponds to Gael Antonio, a 17-year-old youth whose whereabouts had been unknown since the weekend.
The discovery occurred on the extension of 20 de Noviembre Avenue, between the Arco Vial and the Real Valencia subdivision, after an anonymous call to 911 alerted about several bags placed alongside the road.
Municipal Police officers responded and, upon reviewing the contents, immediately notified ministerial personnel.
Forensic experts collected evidence and secured the area while investigative agents gathered preliminary data.
During the proceedings, the young man’s family arrived at the site, although they were informed that the identification process would be carried out later in accordance with protocol.
Later, the Attorney General’s Office confirmed the minor’s identity. According to information provided to authorities, Gael worked at a pizzeria in the Ciudad Natura area and was last seen Saturday night when he left work accompanied by a group of friends. Since then, his family had been unable to contact him.
One of the youths who was with him hours earlier returned to the family home the next day, but, according to statements from relatives, avoided providing details about the last moments he spent with Gael. This person will be required to expand the investigation.
Sources consulted indicated that the body showed bruises in different areas, as well as restraint marks on the limbs. A neck injury consistent with asphyxiation was also observed, with no evidence of gunshot wounds.
Although the Attorney General’s Office has not issued an official motive, investigators are analyzing various lines related to the youth’s social environment and his close circle.
