Felipe Carrillo Puerto is currently fourth in the state for dengue cases, with a total of 35 reported incidents. This data comes from the Secretary of Health (SESA) in the region. The municipality is trailing behind Solidaridad, which has 71 confirmed cases. Benito Juárez tops the list with 601 patients, followed by Othón P. Blanco with 107. Other areas include Cozumel with 14 cases, Bacalar with five, Tulum with four, and Puerto Morelos with two. José María Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Isla Mujeres each have 11 cases.

The total number of dengue cases in the state of Quintana Roo this year is 872, with seven deaths associated with the disease. Despite not having the highest numbers, the 35 cases in Felipe Carrillo Puerto are a cause for concern.

Roberto Perea Flores, head of Health Jurisdiction Number three, emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant against the risk of dengue. Even though the number of cases may seem small, it's crucial not to become complacent and to continue taking preventative measures.

Perea Flores urges residents not to take the situation lightly and to continue taking steps to prevent the spread of the mosquito that transmits the disease. This includes participating in programs to eliminate breeding sites, maintaining clean yards, and more.

Efforts have been intensified in the municipality to combat the disease, including increased fumigation, the application of abate, and cleaning in various areas. Residents are encouraged to help eliminate mosquito breeding sites in their homes and to report any suspicious symptoms of dengue.

Symptoms of dengue can include high fever, intense headache, muscle pain, joint or bone pain, eye pain (especially behind the eyes), nausea, and vomiting. If anyone experiences these symptoms, they should immediately seek medical attention at the nearest health center.
