Federal Agents Arrest Alleged Wife of Cozumel Cartel Leader in Raid

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Federal agents arrested a woman believed to be the wife of a criminal cartel leader operating on Cozumel island during a raid on Wednesday.

Agents from the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, based in Playa del Carmen, led the operation at a property on Avenida 55 Sur and Calle 25 in Cozumel. The woman, whose identity authorities have not officially released, was taken into custody as part of a ministerial investigation.

After her arrest on the island, federal authorities transported her by sea to Playa del Carmen. She was then moved to Cancún, where she was handed over to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office to determine her legal status as investigations continue.

Authorities have not provided further details about the specific cartel involved or the charges the woman may face.
