Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — A woman died Friday morning after a bus collided head-on with her SUV on the Punta Sam-Isla Blanca highway, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. when a Del Valle company bus struck the SUV head-on. The impact trapped the female driver inside the wreckage, requiring rescue crews to free her.
Red Cross paramedics responded to the scene but pronounced the woman dead.
Officials are investigating the cause of the collision. Traffic on the highway leading to Isla Blanca remains partially affected as authorities conduct their investigation.
