Cancún, Mexico — A significant police mobilization occurred in the La Joya subdivision on Tuesday night after an emergency call reported a person injured by a firearm. The alert caused alarm among residents, who observed the arrival of at least five patrol cars to Zafiro Street in region 254.
The initial call indicated that a man had allegedly been “holed” by a firearm. However, upon arriving at the scene, security personnel confirmed the incident was a family dispute among individuals who had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
After interviewing those involved and neighbors, authorities ruled out the occurrence of any gunshots and verified that there were no injured persons, leading to the alert being canceled.
Police Resumed Patrols
Once the emergency was ruled out, the officers left the location and continued their vigilance patrols in search of actual criminal activity.
The Secretary of Citizen Security reminded the public of the importance of making responsible reports to the 911 emergency line, as false alarms can delay the response to real emergencies.
