Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The second edition of Expo Can 2025 is set to take place on August 17 at the Poliforum’s sports dome, offering a variety of activities for dogs of all breeds and mixed breeds. The event, organized by RM Entrenamientos Caninos, will feature beauty contests, basic obedience trials, agility courses, and costume parades.
A Space for All Dogs
Rubén Mejía Gordillo, a canine educator and representative of RM Entrenamientos Caninos, confirmed that the event will provide a comfortable and well-equipped space for attendees and their pets. The activities are designed to include both purebred and mixed-breed dogs, ensuring inclusivity for all participants.
“The event is scheduled for August 17,” Mejía Gordillo explained. “This year, we’ve partnered with the Instituto del Deporte to organize the event. Last year, I handled most of the logistics myself. The agility and basic obedience trials are sports activities where you and your dog work together—just like in soccer, where you chase a ball, here your dog chases one, and you follow your dog.”
Supporting Animal Welfare
In addition to competitions, the event will collect food donations for the Centro de Control Animal, Asistencia y Zoonosis (CENCAAZ) to aid rescued animals. Participants who donate at least two kilograms of pet food will be eligible for raffles, with prizes including pet insurance and specialized pet products.
“Since the first edition in 2024, this has been an event with a cause,” Mejía Gordillo noted. “Last year, we collected 20 kilograms of food, with each participant contributing two kilograms. This year, we’re continuing the initiative. Sponsors are donating 20 kilograms, and attendees who bring two kilograms will receive a raffle ticket.”
The event is open to the public, encouraging community participation in support of animal welfare.
