Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts organized the concert "Corazón del Caribe" in celebration of the 51st anniversary of Quintana Roo, drawing a large audience to the City Theater.
Ernesto Santiago Martínez Cuéllar, the General Director of the Institute, emphasized that Municipal President Estefanía Mercado has given culture the importance it deserves, encouraging family participation in events such as this presentation.
One of the most exciting moments was the performance of "Las Mañanitas" by the Monumental Choir, which consisted of approximately 170 people. The choir included students from the School of Artistic Initiation associated with the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), students from the Puerto Aventuras School of Music, participants from musical workshops, and staff from various sub-directorates of the Institute. The audience rose to their feet to accompany each verse.
Antonio Liza, Director of the Danzonera de Bacalar, praised the event, stating, "Playa del Carmen is the cultural epicenter of the state. We should follow the example of the Institute of Culture, because this event was very well organized with excellent logistics. We artists were treated with dignity. Congratulations to Ernesto Santiago Martínez Cuéllar and his entire team."
Other sublime moments included the performance of the instrumental piece "Quintana Roo," by the composer Bebu Silvetti (deceased). Minutes later, a birthday cake was cut in honor of the state.
The Playa del Carmen Children's and Youth Symphony Orchestra, directed by Professor Liliam Lima, along with the Playa del Carmen Typical Orchestra, delighted attendees with pieces such as "México en la piel" and "La Bikina."
The Government of Quintana Roo's Music Band received prolonged ovations for their performances of boleros, jaranas, and two danzones dedicated to the state capital, Chetumal.
In turn, the group Los Ecos del Mayab performed "Aires del Mayab" and "Peregrina," among other melodies.
Special guests included members of the Danzonera de Bacalar, whose dancers took to the stage with rhythmic movements, accompanying pieces such as "Nereida," "Atardecer en Bacalar," and "Peregrina."
Finally, the Playa del Carmen Children's Choir, directed by teacher Adela La Rosa Guerrero, received well-deserved recognition from the public for their polished performances.
