The Municipal Secretariat of Sustainable Tourism of Puerto Morelos recently hosted the successful "El Arrecife Gastronomic Fair". The event took place at the stunning Ventana al Mar beach, a popular spot for both tourists and locals. This initiative is part of the local government's strategy, led by municipal president Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, to invigorate the local economy and support the growth of local businesses.
The fair is an opportunity to showcase the rich culinary culture of Puerto Morelos to both residents and visitors. "We are dedicated to promoting our restaurant industry, which has strong ties to local producers," said the head of the Municipal Secretariat, Raúl Guadarrama García. The event not only provided a diverse gastronomic experience but also generated substantial revenue for the participating businesses, proving to be an effective strategy for the tourist and economic development of the municipality.
The fair featured a variety of local restaurants and food trucks, including Mariscos Willys, Takeiros Foodtruck, Maíz Maix Península, El Inicio, Punta Knna, Tacos Cochi, and El Diez. Visitors were treated to a diverse menu of seafood dishes, meats, tacos, burgers, desserts, and refreshing beverages. This initiative is part of a broader strategy that blends gastronomy, culture, sport, and nature, showcasing all the attractions that Puerto Morelos has to offer beyond its pristine white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters.
These events not only highlight local cuisine but also create jobs, strengthen the local supply chain, and contribute to the sustainable economic growth of the municipality. “The economic impact is tangible and immediate. It benefits exhibitors, producers, service providers, and the entire community,” concluded Guadarrama García.
