San Francisco de Campeche, Campeche — A significant drug shipment containing marijuana, crystal meth, and crack was seized a few kilometers from Mérida, Yucatán, as it was en route to Quintana Roo. The seizure, valued at 69 million pesos, was conducted by a joint operation involving multiple agencies.
Agents from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the K-9 Unit of the Yucatán State Public Security Secretariat (SSP), along with the Mexican Army (SEDENA), the National Guard, and the Navy, intercepted a white cargo truck at a checkpoint on the Mérida–Campeche highway, near the entrance to Yucatán. The vehicle had originated from Jalisco and was destined for Quintana Roo.
Canine teams detected the illegal substances hidden within the vehicle. However, the individuals transporting the drugs were not intercepted during their passage through Campeche.
Two individuals were detained: José Juan “N,” 26 years old, originally from Puebla, and Luis Enrique “N,” 45 years old, originally from the State of Mexico. Both have been placed under the custody of the Attorney General’s Office.
The shipment crossed the entire state of Campeche and passed through several supposed checkpoints without detection.
