Driver Survives Crash Into Trailer on Highway 307

Damaged car after crashing into trailer on Highway 307 near Tulum

Quintana Roo — A driver approximately 30 years old emerged unscathed following a serious accident recorded on Sunday afternoon on Federal Highway 307, just meters from the access to the Kaan Luum lagoon.

The incident created tense moments for motorists traveling through the area, as the vehicle ended up wedged between the boxes of a parked trailer.

According to the testimony of the driver himself, who was traveling in a Honda car, the crash occurred when he was returning toward the city of Tulum after leaving the lagoon.

He recounted that the steering wheel “suddenly pulled” to the left, causing him to lose control of the vehicle just as a Kia car was approaching from the opposite direction.

“Fortunately, I did not collide with the other car; it passed by and at that moment the steering wheel pulled me and I ended up between the two boxes of the trailer,” he explained, still visibly surprised.

The strong impact resulted in material damage to the vehicle but did not compromise the young man’s integrity, who remained at the scene recounting what happened as emergency services arrived.

Elements of the Civil Protection Directorate and the State Police responded to cordon off the site and manage traffic flow, preventing further incidents. The area remained partially restricted while attention and risk assessment maneuvers were carried out.

Authorities urged motorists to drive with caution, especially on this highway stretch where multiple accidents related to loss of control and excessive speed have been recorded.

The incident highlighted the importance of maintaining optimal mechanical conditions in vehicles and respecting speed limits on a roadway that, in addition to connecting tourist areas, experiences a constant flow of visitors to natural attractions like the Kaan Luum lagoon.
