Tulum’s New Infrastructure Projects Unveiled by Mayor

Tulum, Mexico — Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón has unveiled plans for a series of new infrastructure projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. The initiatives include road expansions, rehabilitations, pavement upgrades for major avenues, and the construction of school domes, among other improvements.

Expanding Infrastructure Across the Municipality

In an interview, Castañón emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening municipal infrastructure, ensuring that public funds directly benefit the community.

"Currently, eight projects are underway in different parts of the city, including the coastal zone. Some are already well advanced, and in the coming days, we will inaugurate more. These are all projects requested by residents during our visits to their neighborhoods because we are a government that works on the ground, not from behind a desk," said Castañón Trejo.

The mayor announced that construction will soon begin on street rehabilitations in Akumal and Ejido, as well as pavement upgrades in Xulka, Tumben Kah, and Macario Gómez. Additional projects include pedestrian crossings and speed bumps in Chemuyil.

Collaboration with State Government

Castañón also highlighted a partnership with Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama to build domes in all local schools, a measure recently announced by the state leader.

"This is an initiative by the governor, and we are very pleased that such a vulnerable sector as students will have a space to carry out their activities without suffering from harsh weather conditions like rain and sun," he said.

Ongoing Projects Under Supervision

Among the works currently in progress are the repaving of Avenida Cobá, the rehabilitation of the coastal zone, and upgrades to Avenida Okoót. The mayor stressed that all projects are being closely monitored to ensure quality and durability, in line with his directives.

The administration remains focused on delivering tangible improvements to Tulum’s infrastructure, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and community engagement.
