COZUMEL, Mexico — The Cha'an Ka'an Planetarium in Cozumel is opening its doors to a unique workshop titled "Paper with Sargassum," which begins on September 19. The initiative aims to demonstrate that the marine algae which annually invades the region's beaches can be converted into an opportunity for learning, creation, and environmental care.

A Creative Solution to an Environmental Challenge

The workshop will be held every Friday until October 17. It consists of five sessions, scheduled from 3:30 to 5:00 in the afternoon. The program is open to children, youth, and adults ages 6 and older. Enrollment is limited and all necessary materials are included, allowing each participant to engage directly in the process of transforming sargassum into handmade paper.

Beyond teaching a technical skill, the proposal seeks to generate environmental awareness and demonstrate that creativity can become a tool for change. Each sheet of paper produced is presented not only as an artistic exercise but also as an act of respect for nature.

Registrations are being processed directly at the planetarium's box office. The facility invites the Cozumel community and visitors to join this experience, where science, art, and ecology intertwine for the benefit of the environment. The Cha'an Ka'an Planetarium is now positioning itself as a space where people can learn to give new life to sargassum.
