The local government is offering these reduced rates to help residents fulfill their fiscal responsibilities more easily.
The 15% discount period ends today, January 21, and can be utilized at municipal payment modules. Meeting this tax obligation helps property owners avoid surcharges, fines, penalties, or even potential property seizure. Property owners are advised to settle their debts early and follow these guidelines:
- Payment must be made in a single installment
- The full 2026 fiscal year must be covered
- Payment must be made directly to the Municipal Treasury
All taxpayers must make these payments punctually.
Who Qualifies for the 50% Property Tax Discount?
According to authorities, the highest discount applies to special groups. The following individuals can pay half the normal property tax rate in Cozumel municipality:
- Senior citizens
- People with disabilities
- Pensioners and retirees
This benefit is valid throughout the year, from January 2 to December 31, and applies only to individuals who can document these life conditions.
What Other Discounts Are Available for Property Tax in Cozumel?
If the full debt owed to the local Treasury is paid before February 28, 2026, residents can receive 100% forgiveness of fines and surcharges for property tax payments in Cozumel. Additionally, they can qualify for the following special rates depending on when they settle their debt:

- 10% discount: January 22-February 15
- 5% discount: February 16-28
