Cozumel Seeks Carnival Photos for Museum Exhibition

Announcement for Cozumel Carnival photo and costume exhibition at the Museum of the Island

Cozumel, QRoo, January 22, 2026. The Cozumel Museum has launched a call for participation in the Photographic Exhibition and Costumes Related to the Comparsas of the Cozumel Carnival, aimed at the entire Cozumel community.

The director of the Museum of the Island, Isela Carrillo Cupul, emphasized that this initiative seeks to recognize the historical, artistic, and social value of the carnival, as well as to pay tribute to the comparsas that, year after year, have filled the island’s streets with music, color, and joy.

According to the call, each participant may submit one to five photographs exclusively of comparsas represented in the Cozumel Carnival, accompanied by the names of those appearing in the image or a brief profile.

Additionally, they may contribute a comparsa costume for exhibition, including information such as the name of the comparsa, the year of participation, and the person’s name.

Photographs may be submitted printed in letter size maximum, without frames or materials that hinder scanning, as well as in digital format.

They may be in color or black and white and have been taken in any year, provided they are not subject to copyright, as participants must transfer usage rights to the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (Fpmc) for promotion and exhibition purposes, starting February 4 of this year.

The reception of photographs and costumes will be open from the publication of the call until January 29 of the current year. For more information, interested persons may contact the phone number 987 800 57 92.
