Cozumel Fire Department Presents Sixth Annual Fundraiser to Strengthen Emergency Work

The Board of Trustees of the Cozumel Fire Department has launched its sixth annual fundraiser to strengthen the equipment and operations of the emergency corps, highlighting the accumulated results of five previous editions and the delivery of new specialized equipment.

The Cozumel Fire Department Board of Trustees presented the Sixth Annual Fundraiser, active from December 15 to January 6, 2026, whose objective is to raise resources to strengthen the equipment, training, and operations of the emergency corps. Contributions are made through the purchase of t-shirts at Mega Soriana Cozumel, the three cruise ship piers (Puerta Maya, SSA México, and Punta Langosta), and at the Rock’n Java restaurant.

During the event, the Board of Trustees, in alliance with the Cozumel Community Foundation and Rock’n Java, delivered new specialized equipment acquired with funds from the Fifth Fundraiser, which raised 377,389 pesos. Among the items delivered are tactical boots, a wheelbarrow, a hydraulic jack, a fumigation pump, communication radios, and rehabilitation work at base two. The resources also allowed for the acquisition of vehicle parts, uniforms, maintenance materials, training, and support for internal activities.

Since 2021, the fundraisers have allowed for the collection of significant amounts: in the first, 403,810 pesos were raised for uniforms, furniture, and equipment; in the second, 382,686 pesos for parts, training, and operational improvements; for the third, 430,206 pesos were reached for tools and rescue equipment; while in the fourth fundraiser, 353,758 pesos were raised for specialized equipment and emergency materials.

With the fifth fundraiser, the cumulative total rises to 1,947,850 pesos, plus an additional donation of 3,863,835 pesos in specialized equipment managed by the Cozumel Foundation, giving a total of 5,811,686 pesos that have been allocated to strengthening the Fire Department.

The fire department attends to fires, rescues, traffic accidents, chemical spills, floods, and natural disasters, which is why the annual fundraiser is key to maintaining its operational capacity. For this, the Cozumel Foundation reiterated its commitment to community development and to supporting those who work daily for the safety of the island.
